Mellow Mushroom is one of the few thriving eateries in a very competitive market. They rebranded in 2023 creating a streamlined, cohesive style to be implemented throughout 159 locations. I had the honor of designing and implementing their first rebranded store.
The premier, Atlanta based brewery Monday Night Brewery went far out on this one. Not only would I get to tackle a massive building but I would get the opportunity to do multiple different art pieces throughout and design their launch shirts! I got to design and paint 7 trashcans, 4 cornhole boards, and another fun mural based on “The Rock” to keep the inside joke of their neon Fast and Furious brew system.
This is one of my first and largest projects in Birmingham to date. I had the honor of working with another local muralist Marcus Fetch and Big Communications to paint this part of Birmingham, Alabama’s history.
The Hive was an extremely creative client. The front bar is a collaboration with New Belgium to offer local Birmingham patrons the opportunity to sample beers you can only get at their flagship location in Fort Collins, Colorado. I did over 1000 illustrations between the bar and bathrooms of various thoughts, ideas, and characters. I created a 15’ x 35’ drip wall along side the bar to add a dash of color and fun.
A group of artists from the community got together to create a collaborative piece. I wanted to honor and commemorate our front line workers that have been sacrificing so much for our community over the years; but especially during the pandemic. There is a quote that is within the nursing community that moved me, “I am only one, but still I am one”. As an artist that works within the public view, the idea that a single person can make a difference resonated with me.
I wanted to push the southern ideal of men and women with this design. I used classical statues with flashy and colorful hair styles to showcase the salon owners prowess at coloring and creativity.
I love working with salons. They’re some of the most creative clients I have ever had. This was a simple, yet classy and fun piece.
A dope rasta lion for a smoke shop.
This was for a local bar down in Dothan Alabama. They cater to a business casual crowd. I really enjoyed the Southern Gothic style of this piece.
I have worked closely with one of the biggest and fastest growing Non-Profits in Birmingham; Kulture City. They’re great people, with a great message.
For this design I wanted to do something fun with typography and because its located in Avondale, where the famous Fancy the elephant once roamed. I thought it would be a cheeky little play on words.
I wanted to promote good will in the office of Argos insurance and remind them all that what they do is protecting their clients dreams.
